In a media update Tuesday, the Southeast Fire Centre said there are 209 fires in the region, with 69 currently active including the Cultus Creek blaze 35 kilometres northwest of the Town of Creston.
The Cultus Creek wildfire is burning in the Darkwoods Conservation Area, which has been closed to all access. This fire is producing smoke that may be visible Nelson, Creston and surrounding areas, as well as to motorists traveling on Highway 3A and Highway 6 in the area, the Southeast Fire Centre said.
