Why Hydrogen? The idea of using hydrogen as an energy carrier is not new but this time there is hope that hydrogen will finally make a difference to energy supply and emission reduction. Part of the reason is that the hydrogen-electricity (“hydricity”) model is expected to be far cheaper than an electricity only model for decarbonisation of the energy sector. Apart from balancing intermittency of renewables, hydrogen can also facilitate decarbonisation of heavy industry (iron & steel, chemicals, cement, shipping and long-haul surface transport) which has proved to be a challenge for electricity from renewables. The progress made in reducing the cost of producing low carbon hydrogen is also another reason for the revival of interest in hydrogen.

Forecasting next day s electricity demand in units! - The Hindu BusinessLine

Forecasting next day’s electricity demand in units! December 28, 2020 AP deploys ‘day-ahead’ model using artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies APTransco has deployed a day-ahead electricity forecasting model system that uses Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies. Developed by AP State Load Dispatch Centre, this solution can forecast next day’s electricity demand in units, including day-ahead electricity demand (in MW) on every 15-minute basis. This enables the transmission network to take the right decisions on electricity demand and supply, management of grid and minimising power purchase cost. According to a statement from AP Energy Conservation Mission, Google, with the support of World Bank, has offered to further work on the forecasting model with AP State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC).
