Entering into a memorandum of understanding between Sri Lanka and Oman for mutually waiving the need to obtain a visa permit for individuals possessing diplomatic, special, service and official passports.
Sri Lanka to sign MoU with China to market Pure Ceylon Tea both online and offline

The Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Plantation for entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sri Lanka Tea Board and Fujian Star China International Trade Company Limited for marketing Pure Ceylon Tea both online and offline utilizing the probabilities in Chinese tea market.
Fujian Star China International Trade Company Ltd is a subsidiary company of Bennie Tea Industry Company Limited, which is engaged in tea import, export and in e-commerce.
Under the MoU, the Chinese company has agreed to develop a 5G online marketing platform that provides the network of storing and handing over in China and marketing Sri Lanka Tea logo online, apart from distributing Sri Lankan Tea in China.

The Sri Lanka Tea Board (SLTB), in collaboration with the University of Peradeniya, introduced tea and its varied production components into the curriculum of the Agriculture degree of the university.
“Academic interest in the tea industry will exemplify its image as one of the leading international beverages world-wide”, says SLTB Chairman, Jayampathi Molligoda.
The inclusion of tea as a subject in the university curriculum would also further enhance its importance and help recognize its economic potential, he noted.
Addressing participants of the Peradeniya University at the Hantane Tea Museum, Molligoda stressed that the holistic commitment of undergraduates within the discipline of agriculture will auger well for the tea industry and the economy of the country as a whole.

Colombo (News 1st); Three tourists who arrived in Sri Lanka from Ukraine recently have tested positive for COVID-19, confirmed Deputy Director-General of Public Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath on Wednesday (30).
These three Ukrainians tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday (29) night and Dr. Hemantha Herath said the patients were moved for treatment.
On Monday (28) 180 tourists from Ukraine arrived in Sri Lanka, as the first visitors to the country after the airports were opened for inbound travel.
The special charter flight arrived at the Mattala International Airport and these tourists were the first to arrive in Sri Lanka as part of the government’s pilot project to attract visitors to the country.
