Puri (Odisha) [India], January 3 (ANI): Jagannath Temple in Odisha s Puri opened for everyone on Sunday, but with strict COVID guidelines. The temple was closed on January 1 and 2 to avoid any kind of rush in the wake of New Year.
The people from other parts of the state are also allowed to offer prayers at Shree Jagannath Temple.
The authorities have released guidelines for those visiting the temple. The devotees have to mandatorily wear masks, sanitize their hands, and maintain social distancing. We get tested for COVID-19 three days before. The system is very good. Only those people are allowed who have negative COVID reports. All the temples in India should follow this process, Riya Shah from Kolkata said.

Bubaneswar, Jan 03: In a bid to promote tourism, the Odisha government has porposed an international airport at Puri, that has potential to become a hub for spiritual, economic activities, and could also act as doorway to international destinations.
An international airport at Puri would be ideal as the city is seen as a perfect weekend getaway for people living in Kolkata and the other neighbouring towns, with the most popular beach destinations in the eastern part of the country.
Thronged by beach loving tourists and pilgrims, Puri is a place which has a unique blend of both religious significance and the beauty of the beach.
The fear of the second wave of Covid-19 continues to haunt the Odisha government even though the mutated strain of Sars Covid-2 has not been detected in UK returnees to the state.
In order to ensure that Odisha does not lose its grip on Covid management, the Naveen Patnaik government has declared a ban on night celebrations this New Year eve.
In order to strictly implement the ban the government has clamped night curfew across the state to avoid congregations and celebrations. “The night curfew will be imposed from 10pm tonight to 5am on Friday. All are requested to cooperate,” Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) P.K. Jena said.
