I am so, so excited for this game. Zach Lowe brought it up on his latest podcast, but 2-1 Game 4’s really set the tone for a playoff series, and I think tonight is going to set the tone for a long NBA Finals.
The Suns took Games 1 & 2 at home, and the Bucks answered with a dominant Game 3 performance to keep the series interesting. It is ridiculous just how different Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton play at home compared to on the road, but as long as that trend continues, we will see this series tied at 2-2 heading back to Phoenix.
The Milwaukee Bucks were without their star Giannis Antetokounmpo in their 123-112 win in Game 5 to take control of the Eastern Conference finals against the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night. A win on Saturday night punches their ticket to the NBA Finals against the Phoenix Suns.
The story surrounding Milwaukee is whether Giannis will be able to return to the lineup for Game 6.
Antetokounmpo hyperextended his left knee in Game 4 on Tuesday and was listed as doubtful for Game 5 before eventually being pulled from the starting lineup.
Giannis appears to have injured his leg.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe on Wednesday, the MRI showed no structural or ligament damage to the knee. However a timetable for Antetokounmpo’s return is still unknown.

Now, in retrospect, it doesn’t seem like it was big risk: signing arguably the best player in the world to a four-year deal worth $161 million. Yes, he’d miss the first season and yes, he might not be 100 percent the player he had been, but the Nets knew who he was. He was Kevin Durant.
Still is.
Zach Lowe, in an extensive appreciation of KD’s present and future, points out that yes, indeed, there was a big risk back then but an even bigger reward now. Now only does Lowe lay out how great Durant played his year despite missing 37 games to hamstring issues and COVID protocols, but how much his play will effect the Nets decision-making going forward.
