SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela – A man ended his life by hanging himself inside his house after he tried to poison his four children in Purok 3, Abra, here, last Friday, police reported Sunday.
A Police Regional Office 2 report said the father – Jayson Lastimosa, 39 – was found lifeless hanging with a nylon rope looped around his neck inside his house.
Investigation conducted by the Santiago City police showed that prior to the incident, the victim wrote a suicide note stating that his wife, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), had an affair with another man.
On Thursday night, the father gathered his four children in their home, and at around 1 a.m. Friday, he attempted to poison them by forcing them to drink water laced with Racumin powder (a poison for rats). But his eldest daughter managed to run outside and call for rescue from their neighbors.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said the President will address the nation and announce his decision on the new quarantine classification of several places in the country. The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) is expected to finalize its recommendation and submit a report to the President.
Roque, in the press briefing, said Metro Manila and the four nearby provinces would likely shift to the ordinary general community quarantine (GCQ) that will ease movement restrictions. He noted that the NCR Plus has seen a drop in coronavirus cases as well as critical health care utilization rate in recent days.
