Clayton Hyde raided Harvey & Thompson Pawnbrokers in Wolverhampton Street on January19, 2019, and made off with around £10,000 in cash, gold and jewellery. CCTV shows him bursting into the shop at 11.30am armed with a lump hammer and meat cleaver − alongside an accomplice who was carrying a machete and iron bar − before shattering a glass security screen. However, as Hyde, from Smith Street in Dudley, grabbed valuables he cut himself on the smashed glass − allowing forensics to seize a DNA sample that returned a hit to the 44-year-old, who was on prison release licence at the time.
