JACKSON TWP. – With a flip of a coin, Albert Prazniak s life was set on a path that would bring him love, companionship and a lifetime of memories.
More than seven decades later, he can t remember if he picked heads or tails, but he knows he is the luckiest guy in the world.
On that night in 1946 in the Slovak Club in downtown Massillon, Prazniak and his friend spotted two young ladies enjoying the music filling the club.
The pals flipped a coin to see which one of them would ask Patricia Smith to dance. She was a super dancer, the 96-year-old Albert Prazniak said.

As voters hit the polls in Ohio’s primary election Tuesday, many found a school levy on their ballot. So how did Ohio do overall when it came to schools?
Voters across the state approved 50 of the 73 school tax issues (68 percent), according to the Ohio School Boards Association. That’s a small increase from the 2020 primary election when voters approved 64 percent of school tax issues with 63 of 99 passing.
