In its first life, Liberty Station was the Naval Training Center, San Diego, where thousands of recruits learned Navy ways, beginning in 1923. After the Navy shuttered the training complex in 1997, the city teamed with developers to preserve and transform its Spanish Colonial Revival campus, which was influenced by Bertram Goodhue’s trend-setting designs for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition in Balboa Park. The project added dozens of restaurants, shops, housing, sports and arts groups some of which are open at reduced capacity; check before you go.
Anthropologie retail store coming to First Street Napa [Napa Valley Register, Calif.]
Dec. 17 Popular lifestyles retailer Anthropologie is coming to downtown Napa in the middle of next year, developer Todd Zapolski says.
The store will occupy a 7,000-square foot space in the historic, and newly renovated, Gordon Building.
“Anthropologie brings a dynamic new presence popular among locals and visitors alike, and speaks volumes about Downtown Napa’s appeal to retailers, especially during these trying times,” Zapolski said in a news release. “Interest for leasing at First Street Napa remains strong, and we are excited to welcome this stellar retailer to the iconic Gordon Building, an award-winning, distinctive historic venue within our First Street Napa development property.”
