King Felipe oversees ceremony for historic military order

Casa de S.M. el Rey King Felipe of Spain has taken part in a solemn ceremony for the Royal and Military Order of Saint Ferdinando.  His Majesty arrived at the Aranjuez Royal Palace, located in Aranjuez, near Madrid, on June 8th 2021, and was received by the Chief of Defence, Lieutenant Colonel. López Calderón, the Chancellor of the Royal and Military order of Saint Hermenegildo and the President of the Assembly of the Royal and Military order of Saint Ferdinando.  The King then received military honours, including a gun salute, and reviewed troops; he also greeted the lineup of authorities (which included the Minister of Defense, the Government Delegate in the Madrid Autonomic Community and the chiefs of the three branches of the military) before taking his place in the Royal tribune and kickstarting the act with a reading of a historical review, which mentions of the flags and heroic actions of the regiments in attendance.

Bodies of slain Spanish journalists, Irish activist, repatriated to Madrid 1 minute read Madrid, Apr 30 (EFE).- A Spanish Armed Forces airplane carrying the bodies of two Spanish journalists and an Irish conservationist who were killed in an ambush in Burkina Faso this week landed at an airbase just outside Madrid on Friday morning. The Spanish journalists David Beriain and Roberto Fraile were in the country filming a documentary on poaching in the Sahel region, while Rory Young was accompanying them as the co-founder of anti-poaching organization Chengeta Wildlife. Burkinabe officials have said the attack was carried out by unidentified “terrorists” on Monday. Their bodies were discovered the following day.
