Florentino Perez re-elected Real Madrid’s president for 6th term 1 minute read
Madrid, Apr 13 (EFE).- Florentino Perez was once again re-elected as president of Real Madrid, following a meeting of the club’s electoral board early on Tuesday.
The 74-year-old automatically took the reins of the Spanish side for a sixth term until 2025, after the deadline for submitting further nominations for the position expired Monday night.
“Having presented no more than one candidacy … Mr. Florentino Perez Rodriguez is declared president of Real Madrid,” the Spanish club said in a statement.
Perez first took up presidency in 2000 after he defeated the club’s 13th president Ramón Mendoza and remained in office until 2006, when he resigned. He was elected again in 2009 and has been running for the post unopposed ever since.

Joan Laporta is once again FC Barcelona President, after beating both Victor Font and Toni Freixa in Sunday’s Presidential elections.
Laporta’s triumph was announced in a tweet by the Catalan club:
“2021 ELECTION. Joan Laporta, new president of FC Barcelona”
In an election that saw 55,676 voters, according to the club’s official website, Laporta secured 29,830 votes (57.63%). Font placed second with 16,484 votes (31.84), while Freixa managed 4,724 (9.13%).
