Mifflin County reports 16 new virus cases | News, Sports, Jobs

From staff reports Mifflin County reported 16 new cases of COVID-19, according to data released Friday by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Mifflin County has now had 5,253 cases since the pandemic began in March 2020. Juniata County reported three new cases (2,080 total), Snyder County saw five (3,565), Huntingdon County’s total rose by 10 (4,983) and Perry County added 15 (3,703) to its total. No deaths were reported in any of the five local counties Friday. The to-date COVID death totals are Mifflin County 176, Juniata County 84, Snyder County 84, Huntingdon County 129 and Perry County 100. There are now 12,728 people fully vaccinated in Mifflin County, 5,784 in Juniata County, 9,816 in Snyder County, 12,636 in Huntingdon County and 10,575 in Perry County. People are considered fully vaccinated after receiving a one-dose vaccine or both required doses of a two-dose vaccine.

From staff reports There were no new cases of COVID-19 in Juniata County nor deaths attributed to the disease reported in the local five-county area, according to data released Thursday by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The health department said there were 17 new cases in Mifflin County, eight in Snyder County, 19 in Huntingdon County and six in Perry County. Mifflin County has had 5,237 cases so far, Juniata County has had 2,077, Snyder County has had 3,560, Huntingdon County has had 4,973 and Perry County has had 3,688, according to the health department. There have been 176 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Mifflin County, 84 each in Juniata and Snyder counties, 129 in Huntingdon County and 100 in Perry County.

From staff reports Mifflin County has eclipsed 12,500 people fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to data released Wednesday by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. According to the health department, there are now 12,514 people fully vaccinated meaning they’ve received a single-dose vaccine or both doses of a two-dose vaccine and another 3,063 partially vaccinated meaning they’ve received one dose of a two-dose vaccine. Mifflin County had 16 new cases reported Wednesday, but no deaths. Mifflin County’s totals are now 5,220 cases and 176 deaths since the pandemic began more than a year ago. In Juniata County, only three new cases were reported, but Juniata County also had the area’s only COVID-related death Wednesday, its 84th so far. There have been 2,077 cases in Juniata County, as well as 5,620 people fully vaccinated and 1,791 partially vaccinated.

BEAVER SPRINGS The Middlecreek Area Community Center is having a kids fair, Chinese auction, silent auction and live auction to celebrate its 19th Anniversary on May 15. The free kids fair will be held from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on May 15 at the MACC. Kids’ activities include crafts, inflatables, games, activities and safety and educational information. Every child who comes to the fair may enter the drawing for two bicycles. The bicycles were donated by Congressman Fred Keller and State Representative David Rowe. LOCAL NEWS | MAY 3, 2021May 3, 2021 in News Residents at risk of losing their housing in Penn Township, Snyder County may be eligible to receive assistance.  The Resident Subsistence Program is being offered in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to support hard-hit residents through the Community Development Block Grant-CARES Act (CDBG-CV).  The grants can be used to pay rent or mortgage payments to prevent eviction or foreclosure and utility payments to prevent cutoff.  Applications are now being accepted.  The Union-Snyder Community Action Agency will provide the grants to Penn Township residents, as allocated by Snyder County.  For more information or to set up an appointment, Penn Township residents should contact the Union-Snyder Community Action Agency by calling 570-374-0181, option 3.  For Snyder County residents outside of Penn Township, the Union-Snyder Community Action Agency may be able to help through the Emergency Rental Assistance program.
