Penal man held with 5.5 kg of ganja heading for Tobago

A PENAL man was expected to be charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking on Friday, a day after he was arrested while allegedly attempting to transport 5.5 kilogrammes of the plant to Tobago.
The unidentified 31-year-old man of Dookie Street, Penal, was arrested in Port of Spain by the Siparia Criminal Investigations Department, just before leaving for Tobago.
In a media release, police said an operation was started by the department after it received information about the man s activities.
Police said at around 6.25am on Thursday, officers went to the ferry terminal at the port of Port of Spain, where they monitored and intercepted a grey Nissan Note, driven by a man, attempting to board the ferry.

Security guard shot, wounded in La Brea supermarket robbery

One of two bandits shot and wounded an unarmed security guard during a robbery at a Chinese supermarket in La Brea on Wednesday.
Up to Thursday afternoon, the 45–year-old victim remained in a stable condition at the San Fernando General Hospital.
The police did not give his name, but said he works with Travtech Security Services Ltd and lives at St Margaret’s Village in Claxton Bay.
Police said shortly before 6 pm on Wednesday, two gunmen walked into Welcome supermarket at Majuba Road, La Brea, and announced a robbery.
25 Venezuelans held in Santa Flora after illegal entry

A total of 25 Venezuelans were detained by police on Monday after illegally entering TT in Santa Flora.
In a release on Monday, the police said members of the South Western Division Task Force on an anti-crime exercise from Sunday night were told several illegal immigrants disembarked a vessel at Mahawal Beach, School Road, Santa Flora, and boarded vehicles around 12.30 am.
The police intercepted them along the SS Erin Road nearthe NP Quikshoppe.
