HTC VIVE, the global leader in premium virtual reality (VR), today set a new benchmark for business and consumer VR, bringing 5K resolution and a 120-degree field of view as standard to the two new VR headsets announced today at VIVECON 2021, HTC s global VR conference.

Today is clearly the day for all the new PC hardware announcements, as HTC have just unveiled not one, but two new Vive headsets for VR: the Vive Pro 2 and Vive Focus 3. The former is the consumer-focused successor to their original Vive Pro headset, adding a new 5K resolution display and a super smooth 120Hz refresh rate to the mix, while the latter is an all-in-one headset that s aimed at business types, offering the same 5K display but a lower 90Hz refresh rate.
The Vive Pro 2 is the one PC VR fans will want to keep an eye on, though, as this new premium VR headset will be taking on with the excellent Valve Index and HP Reverb G2 when it launches on June 4th 2021.

HTC just revealed the HTC VIVE Pro 2, complete with options for upgrades. This new headset will be sold in at least two packages – one with the whole “full-kit” experience, the other with the headset alone. This should allow those users who already own a VIVE Pro (the first one) to avoid paying maximum cash for the parts they already own – and likely still already have installed at home.
The new HTC VIVE Pro 2 has a 5K resolution display (2.5K to each eye) with a 120Hz image refresh rate. This device has a 120-degree field of view (FOV), courtesy of the device’s 2x stacked-lens design. The display works with fast-switching panel tech and “real RGB sub-pixels” too.
