Debbie Griffiths samples the dessert at the Taiao Kitchen Takeover.
I cannot tell you where I was, and I can’t tell you what I ate. What I can tell you is that at one point I declared to my table mates; “If I wasn’t in a public place, right now, I’d lick the plate.” The food is some of the best I’ve ever eaten. Over the space of three hours at the Taiao edition of Kitchen Takeover, I’ve tried (and loved) new ingredients prepared and presented in innovative ways. I’ve discovered amazing flavour combinations. I’ve had my meals served under a smoke-filled cloche and revealed from beneath a flax-woven Māori kete in a beautifully styled room that resonates with the theme of the night. As we were advised in the welcome email, though, loose lips sink ships, so you won’t be getting any details from me.
