Chicago Fire
The future is looking bright for the first responders of
Chicago Fire s Firehouse 51 as of the end of What Comes Next.
Stella Kidd passed her exam and will become a CFD lieutenant,
Severide has marriage on his mind, and
Brett got rid of her crazy cat, so it was a great episode for the good guys all around! Still, I found myself wondering on two different occasions â is
Chicago Fire setting up Casey replacements?
Now, this isn t the first time in Season 9 that I ve begun to suspect that
Chicago Fire is preparing to send Casey off to a new (and off-screen) chapter of his life and career, and I honestly thought it was no longer a possibility after the reveal that his head is fine and there are no obstacles in his way as captain in the CFD. But there were two instances of characters showing that they could begin to fill Casey s shoes if he s not around in Season 10. Last night’s Chicago Fire felt very much like a bridge episode. We had a few short but important moments happening, but overall it wasn’t a super action-packed or intense installment.
Now that we are getting closer to the finale only two episodes left this season! it feels like they’re gearing up to an explosive last hurrah before season’s end.
In the aptly titled What Comes Next, Kidd finally took her lieutenant’s exam, Casey and Severide joined forces to investigate a suspicious case involving sulfuric acid, and Firehouse 51 hosted their annual garage sale. All in all, a usual but mildly forgettable episode.

In a stroke of very good luck, he learned that rather than the recent knock on his noggin taking him out of commission, the injury he sustained many years ago isn t going to be a factor in his future anymore. So, what does his future look like now?
Fire showrunner Derek Haas talked with CinemaBlend about what s ahead for Casey in the final episodes of Season 9.

Rumors that Taylor Kinney is leaving Chicago Fire are starting to pop up again. Before we take a look at them, let’s state up front that neither Kinney nor NBC has suggested that the character of Kelly Severide is leaving the show during Season 9.
At the same time, one of the reasons that these particular Chicago Fire rumors have taken hold is because the show has always done a good job at keeping character deaths and departures under wraps. That has never been more clear than when Otis left the show.
