A Southwestern Ontario man was convicted Tuesday of careless driving after a pickup truck crashed into the front entrance of an auto parts retail store early last year in Sarnia.
Corbyn Critchfield was facing a Criminal Code charge of impaired by drug connected to the January 2020 incident, but that was withdrawn after he pleaded guilty in a virtual Sarnia courtroom to the single Highway Traffic Act charge. An agreement to go that route was reached between the Crown and defence lawyer Steve Menzies following a pre-trial in front of a different judge due in part to “inadvertent intoxication” by an unknown drug.

Subscriber only ARLC chairman Peter V landys has vowed to resist bowing to pressure as the NRL deals with the backlash over their crackdown on foul play. Four Brisbane players were sensationally reported six times as the Broncos were left with 11 men at one stage of a drama-charged 50-6 mauling by Manly at Suncorp Stadium, but V landys is standing firm.
Whether or not we see Brett Morris on the field again, his legacy as one of the all-time great wingers is undisputed.
The numbers tell the story for the 34-year-old, who suffered an ACL injury in the Roosters’ 38-4 win over the Knights on Saturday night.
In an illustrious 275-match NRL career, Morris has scored 176 tries - the fourth most of any player in history behind legendary Bears winger Ken Irvine, retired Storm star Billy Slater and Manly great Steven Menzies - at a strike rate of 0.64 per game.
He won two premierships - one with the Dragons in 2010 and the other as a Rooster in 2019 - and represented NSW and Australia.
