Dr Hilary Flett is leading on the St Helens GP vaccination programme EFFORTS to vaccinate the people of St Helens are on course to reach a major milestone this week. The primary care network-led arm of St Helens’ vaccination programme has been up and running since December, with GP practices working flat through the top four priority groups. Mass vaccination clinics, supported by an army of volunteers, are being held at Saints’ rugby stadium near almost every day, dependent on supplies. It is understood GPs are on course to deliver 25,000 Covid jabs by Wednesday, as they work their way through the over 70s and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals.

Milwaukee school board approves plan to reopen schools
Milwaukee Public School Board unanimously approved a plan to begin the phased reopening of schools at their board meeting last Tuesday. The plan allows for 300 special needs students and their teachers to voluntarily return to in-person instruction on February 8. Further, it sets tentative return dates in mid-April for roughly 4,300 teachers and 75,000 students.
Under the proposal, 23,000 Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade students will return on April 12, 32,000 3rd through 8th graders on April 19, and finally 19,000 high school students will return on April 26. A similar tiered reopening schedule was utilized in Chicago and other districts to divide educators and attempt to stifle opposition. In Chicago, Pre-Kindergarten and Special Education teachers were ordered back into the classroom on January 4th while the rest of the district is remote.

URBANDALE, Iowa Monday night, the Urbandale School Board faced a decision many school boards are faced with these days. They opted for a less popular option and that certainly has not been unanimously supported.
For the time being, Urbandale students will not be returning to the classroom full-time after the Urbandale School Board voted 4-3 to remain in its hybrid model. Central office administration believes it s time to get kids back in the classroom, Superintendent Steve Bass said during Monday night s board meeting.
