Mayor appoints three to committee exploring new ~$42 million Casper Police headquarters By Brendan LaChance on February 16, 2021 A crowd gathers outside of the Natrona County Hall of Justice (Oil City staff) CASPER, Wyo. Casper Mayor Steve Freel said ahead of the city council’s Tuesday, Feb. 16 meeting that three council members have been appointed to serve on a committee that will be established to explore how to pursue a project to build a new Casper Police Department headquarters. Freel appointed Council members Lisa Engebretsen, Steve Cathey and Bruce Knell to the committee. Freel said he would also attend some of the committee’s meetings.

The Ford Wyoming Center (previously the Casper Events Center) are preparing to host spring high school sports state tournaments a year after the COVID pandemic first arrived in Wyoming. The cancellation of high school basketball tournaments foreshadowed cancellations of a variety of concerts and other events which were scheduled to be held at the Events Center throughout 2020. With the Ford Wyoming Center preparing to host state tournaments this spring, Spectra Venue Management is also looking to begin restoring employee salaries.

New Casper City Council Members Take Oath of Office

The nonpartisan Casper City Council on Tuesday welcomed four new members and one re-elected incumbent who expressed their hopes for the next two years, and said farewell to four others who expressed their thanks for the opportunity to serve. My hope is that on council we may agree and disagree with one another as part of a robust productive decision-making process,  new member Amber Pollock said before Mayor Steve Freel administered the oath of office to her and the other council members. Second, is that we will be sensitive to the well-being and prosperity of our community and its citizens in all of our dialogue ., Pollock said. And last that we can work to practice to actively engage in the collective work of building and maintaining the community, a process that is never-ending and requirers civic engagement..
