Vandalized Columbia lynching site marker repaired
A city of Columbia spokesperson said it repaired and reinstalled a vandalized monument to James Scott s lynching Friday afternoon.

A vandalized MKT Trail marker that documents the last lynching in Boone County has been repaired and is back in its original spot.
The Community Remembrance Project of Boone County said Friday in a news release that its staff learned of the vandalism to the James T. Scott marker around 8 p.m. Thursday. Police said the marker was found but badly damaged on Friday. Hours later workers put the repaired marker back in its place.

Third defendant ordered to trial in Stewart Road shooting
After a brief fifth day of a preliminary examination Monday, a judge has determined that there was enough testimony and evidence to send a third defendant in the Stewart Road shooting to a higher court to face trial.
First District Judge Michael C. Brown made the decision after hearing testimony from several witnesses including three detectives from the Monroe County Sheriff s Office who testified that a phone linked to the third defendant was at the intersection of Stewart and Telegraph at the time of the shooting. His fingerprints also were found on a box of cigarettes that were recovered from the suspect s car.
Ohio Civil War Show
The 2021 Ohio Civil War Show will take place 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and again 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $7. Children 11 and younger are admitted for free. Visitors are asked to wear face masks. Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the grounds.
Those who arrive at the fairgrounds will be greeted by an eight-cannon battery.
Alongside them will be other artillery pieces, such as mortars, limbers and caissons.
The show includes a 1776 Revolutionary War living history encampment that will feature military drills, musket firing and colonial period camp cooking. Reenactors will explain various period military attire and offer other demonstrations.
