Plan for housing at Keighley site is approved

The site of the planned homes BRADFORD Council has been urged to block any plans for homes in an area of Keighley until traffic issues at a notorious bridge are resolved. At a recent meeting of the Council s Regulatory and Appeals Committee members were discussing plans to build 41 new homes in the Long Lee area. Among the concerns raised by objectors and local Councillors were traffic congestion at the Coney Lane bridge, the main route between Long Lee and Keighley town centre. They argued that numerous new developments in Long Lee would add more traffic to this route, which is already regularly congested throughout the day and has been the site of numerous accidents, often involving HGVs or large vehicles.

Bradford city centre has been overloaded with cheap flats in recent years - meeting told

BRADFORD city centre is becoming overloaded with low cost flats, and planners will no longer push for city apartment schemes to include affordable housing. A planning meeting this week heard that the centre already had a large amount of cheap flats - with some going to market for as cheap as £5,000. And one developer said these low cost flats were not painting Bradford in a good light. Bradford Council usually requires any major housing development to include an amount of affordable housing - making it easier for people who cannot afford market housing to find a home. Often developers have to show that 20 per cent of housing will be affordable to get planning permission.
