David, tells us . his father passed away of old age at his Beverly Hills home on January 23. We re told he had a number of medical conditions and was having trouble swallowing, but he did not have COVID-19 . it was simply his time.
Holbrook s career began in the 50s when he developed and starred in the one-man stage show, Mark Twain Tonight! which earned him critical acclaim. He would go on to win the Tony for Best Actor in 1966, get his first Emmy nom in 1967, and played the famous American novelist for more than 6 decades . and in over 2,200 shows.

Hal Holbrook, who carved out a substantial acting career in television and film but who achieved his widest acclaim onstage, embodying Mark Twain in all his craggy splendor and vinegary wit in a one-man show seen around the world, died Jan. 23 at his home in Beverly Hills, California. He was 95.
His death was confirmed by his assistant, Joyce Cohen, on Monday night.

NEW YORK (AP) Award-winning character actor Hal Holbrook has died. Halbrook toured the world as Mark Twain in a one-man show and uttered the advice “Follow the money” in the political thriller “All the President’s Men.”
Holbrook had a busy career in theater, television and movies, winning five Emmys and a Tony. His more than two dozen film credits ranged from Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” to Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street.” He was a steady presence on TV as well, having appeared on such shows as “The West Wing,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Bones.”

(Reuters) - Hal Holbrook, an award-winning actor acclaimed for his one-man portrayal of American literary legend Mark Twain and whose film work included portraying the mysterious Deep Throat in All the President s Men, has died at the age of 95, the New York Times reported on Tuesday.
Holbrook died on Jan. 23 at his home in Beverly Hills, California, the New York Times reported. It said his death was confirmed late on Monday by his assistant, Joyce Cohen. https://nyti.ms/3pHHnBw
In 2008, at age 82, Holbrook became the oldest male performer ever nominated for an Academy Award for his supporting role in Into the Wild.
