DPS launches road safety operations during holiday weekend DPS troopers will be out and about. By: Isamar Martinez and last updated 2021-07-01 18:31:48-04 CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â The Department of Public Safety says troopers will be keeping an eye out for intoxicated drivers and other traffic violations as part of their Operation Care (Crash Awareness Reduction and Effort) and Operation Holiday initiatives. Nearly 40,000 citations were issued last year through Operation Holiday. This includes 15,821 warnings and citations for speeding, as well as more than 1,100 warnings and citations for seat belt and child safety restraint violations. âCelebrating the Fourth of July and our nationâs freedom is a joyous time, but we must take our responsibilities on the road seriously,â said DPS Director Steven McCraw. âPlease remember to drive carefully and obey all traffic laws to ensure everyone can enjoy the holiday.â

DPS to increase enforcement over holiday

Thursday, July 1, 2021 Heading into the Fourth of July holiday, the Texas Department of Public Safety will increase the number of Texas Highway Patrol Troopers as part of Operation CARE and Operation Holiday. Operations CARE Crash Awareness Reduction and Effort and Holiday will take place over the weekend, the DPS recently announced. DPS troopers will be on the road looking for speeding drivers, intoxicated drivers and those not wearing their seatbelt. “Celebrating the Fourth of July and our nation’s freedom is a joyous time, but we must take our responsibilities on the road seriously,” DPS Director Steven McCraw said in a statement. “Please remember to drive carefully and obey all traffic laws to ensure everyone can enjoy the holiday.”
