Mobile pre-school teacher, 67, dies in house fire: Report

A pre-school teacher at a Catholic school in Mobile died Monday after her house caught fire, according to a report.
Lillis Lewis, who taught at St. Mary Catholic School, died after her home on Silverwood Street erupted in flames, according to Fox 10.
Mobile Fire-Rescue Department companies were dispatched to the home around 11:18 p.m. Monday after multiple witnesses called to report a fire with the homeowner possibly trapped inside, spokesman Steven Millhouse said.
Firefighters found a 67-year-old woman down in a bedroom toward the rear of the home as heavy flames and thick, black smoke engulfed the house. She was rescued and taken to a local hospital for emergency care.

Woman critically injured in Mobile fire early Christmas morning

A 50-year-old woman is in critical condition after a two-alarm fire at a Mobile apartment complex early Christmas morning.
Mobile Fire-Rescue responded around 5:01 a.m. Friday to the Berskshire Arms Apartments at 4021 Seabreeze Ct. on a report of an apartment structure on fire, said Mobile Fire-Rescue spokesman Steven Millhouse.
Firefighters were met with thick black a gray smoke with heavy flames visible from the roof of the two-story apartment house.
They found a 50-year-old woman motionless on the lawn in front of the building, Millhouse said. The victim, who suffered burn injuries and smoke inhalation, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
