Alyth icon Keithy will be revered forever after life of kindness and acceptance

Everyone accepted him : How Keithy melted hearts to become an Alyth icon

At 5 foot 2 inches tall, ‘Keithy’ was a giant of the town, remembered fondly by almost all who had the good fortune to meet him. Keith was very sociable and remarkably visible in Alyth. His love of football, bowling and meeting people took him far and wide across Scotland. Some are considered legends of a town. In the space of 73 years, Keith became its icon. The streets of Alyth were packed with hundreds of people on the day of his funeral in March. “In decades to come the vast majority of people, like myself, will be forgotten,” says former Alyth AFC secretary Kevin Smith (rather modestly).
