In the Wings: Musicals at Richter stages Godspell ; celebrates 37 years

BY NANCY SASSO JANIS REPUBLICAN-AMERICAN July 14, 2021 61 DANBURY -Musicals at Richter will celebrate 37 seasons as the longest-running outdoor theater in Connecticut when it opens its main stage season with the Stephen Schwartz musical “Godspell” from July 23-Aug. 7. CONTRIBUTED Billy Hicks, left, and Kyle Riedinger star in the the Musicals at Richter production of ‘Godspell.’ The beloved musical is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Musicals at Richter had been performing outdoors long before the pandemic made outdoor performances more attractive for audience members not quite ready to enter a theater. Billy Hicks, a New Milford native, will perform the role of Jesus on the outdoor Richter stage. Hicks, who holds a bachelor of music degree in vocal performance from the Boston Conservatory, is thrilled to be back on the Richter stage after 10 years.
