North Shelby School sale still in the works

North Shelby School sale still in the works The Cleveland County Board of Education decided last week to resume efforts to sell the former North Shelby School property on Northside Drive to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. The property has been empty and unused since the 2018 opening of the current North Shelby location on Charles Road. In offering to buy the property Mt. Calvary said it hopes to turn the school into a community life center, hosting church and community-sponsored events.  The school board revisited the topic of the former property sale at the request of board member Danny Blanton, who has asked multiple times over the last year for the district to complete the sale.

The news was announced by the World Curling Federation. In the news release, there was no mention of the team dropping out of the championship rather, there was a tone of optimism that the team could still compete in the championship. “The individuals who returned positive cases will remain in isolation until medically cleared by the Chief Medical Officer with guidance from Alberta Health,” said the release.
