Be the Match, the national bone marrow donor program, was at the Clear Creek Commissary Saturday looking for people to register to be a bone marrow donor, in the hopes of finding a match for a Fort Hood youth fighting a rare form of leukemia and other children in desperate need for a bone marrow match.
In the midst of Februaryâs winter storm that blanketed Central Texas with snow and ice, 9-year-old Michael âMJâ Dixon was fighting a storm of his own, after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a rare form of childhood cancer in which the bone marrow cells develop errors in its DNA.
Texas-based grocer and retailer H-E-B will no longer charge $4.95 with a minimum purchase of $35 for curbside pickup orders, the company announced in a news release Monday.
For free curbside pickup, customers must place an order with a minimum of $35 before discounts, promotions or coupons are applied, the company said.
Customers who do not order $35 worth of items will be charged a $2.95 âsmall basket surcharge,â the release said.
âOur goal with H-E-B Curbside is to give Texans an easier, more convenient way to shop for the products they want and need, and we are excited to now offer this service free to all our H-E-B customers,â said Rachael Vegas, senior vice president of eCommerce merchandising.
Local residents are invited to attend a grand reopening event at the Village Square in Killeen next month.
Francine Hamilton, the broker and owner of Dwelling Place Realty â a new business at the Village Square on Stan Schlueter Loop in Killeen â is also hosting the reopening event that is welcoming all of the businesses in the square back after COVID-19 restrictions.
There are also two other new businesses in the square, Dreams of Beauty by Warnita and Creation Station Learning Academy.
The other businesses in the square include Title Boxing, Cinderella Couture Bridal, Mary Dells Designer Fashions, Covenant Credit Union, Superior Cuts and Styles and Mailbox Store.
