One student injured in school bus accident in East Hall

A Hall County school bus was in an accident Monday morning in the East Hall County area. School District spokesman Stan Lewis confirmed the accident on Broome Road at East Hall Road. He said the bus was carrying East Hall Middle and High School students. Lewis said one student complained of back pain and was released to their parents. The rest of the students arrived at school. The Georgia State Patrol said in an email statement that the bus driver failed to maintain lane while traveling north on East Hall Road, traveling off the roadway and down a slight embankment, and hitting a tree.

The woman and five men were identified Friday, Jan. 29, as:   Jose DeJesus Elias-Cabrera, 45, of Gainesville   Corey Alan Murphy, 35, of Clermont   Nelly Perez-Rafael, 28, of Gainesville Saulo Suarez-Bernal, 41, of Dawsonville   Victor Vellez, 38, of Gainesville   Edgar Vera-Garcia, 28, of Gainesville  Five people were found dead on-site and another died at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, according to hospital spokesman Sean Couch. The bodies were transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy. Hall County Deputy Coroner Kevin Wetzel said the autopsies were scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 31. Hall County Fire Services and Gainesville Fire responded just after 10 a.m. Thursday to a report of burns at the plant. Firefighters discovered a large number of employees had evacuated the building.
