Maj. Bill Farley, U.S. Marine Corps (ret.), represented the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs April 17 as guest speaker for the closing banquet of the Marine Corps League Mideast Division Convention in Rehoboth Beach.
Hosted by the MCL Department of Delaware, the event included representatives from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington, D.C., and national officers.
Farley spoke about the problems leading to the alarming rate of veteran suicide and about the Crisis Awareness Challenge initiated by Dover Mayor Robin Christiansen in conjunction with the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs. This initiative follows the successful model of the Mayor

Charter change legislation allowing the Rehoboth Beach city manager to delegate all supervisory authority, including oversight of the beach patrol, has been introduced.
House Bill 156 was introduced April 20 by Speaker of the House Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach. It was assigned to the House Administration Committee, of which Schwartzkopf is a member. Sen. Ernie Lopez, R-Lewes, Sen. Bruce Ennis, D-Smyrna, Sen. Dave Wilson, R-Bridgeville, and Rep. Ruth Briggs King, R-Georgetown, have all signed on as bill sponsors.
General Assembly approval and the governor’s signature are required for all of the state’s municipalities to change their charters. The last time Rehoboth went through this process was in 2019 – one change made sure the people who should be voting in town elections are; a second change created a lodging tax on hotels, motels and tourist homes.

Everton U18s advance in FA Youth Cup with fine win at Chelsea Thursday, 15 April, 2021
Everton U18s secured another excellent FA Youth Cup win on Thursday as a late goal from Sean McAllister s earned the Toffees a superb 2-1 FA Youth Cup 5th-round victory at Chelsea.
With the scores tied at 1-1 and just 3 minutes left on the clock, Northern Ireland youth international McAllister fired a shot from 20 yards that squirmed under the Chelsea goalkeeper and across the line. Everton move on to the quarter-finals, where they will face West Bromwich Albion.
The win represented another significant scalp for Paul Tait s Blues who struck a 98th-minute winner to knock out holders Manchester City in the previous round with Chelsea having enjoyed significant success in the competition in recent years. The west London side won the Youth Cup for five straight years between 2013 and 2018.
