Parking fees to rise after 10 years PARKING charges are to rise in a number of South Lakes car parks. Town centre parking will be hit first, with outer town carpark s getting away with any immediate increase. Councillor s at South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) voted in the increase, which they hope will improve town centre use, rather than discourage it. Councillor Philip Dixon, who represents Kendal Town ward, thinks people will always get in an uproar over parking charges. Storm Christoph has brought weather chaos across Merseyside as roads have flooded and trains are cancelled. As we approach rush hour, delays and travel difficulties are expected as the heavy downpours continue into the evening.
Earlier today, Knowsley Lane in Stockbridge Lane flooded and is closed, while a sink hole opened up in Ashbourne Road in Aigburth.
East Midland Railway trains are off between Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street and Northern trains are also disrupted.
