San Joaquin County sees 80% voter turnout for November presidential election [The Record, Stockton, Calif]
San Joaquin County saw a more than 80% voter turnout rate for November’s election, with the majority of votes having been cast by mail.
The results were officially certified this week and presented to the county’s Board of Supervisors at its meeting Tuesday.
The turnout was more a than 13% increase over the 2016 presidential election and 1%0 more than when President Barack Obama was elected in 2012, according to data from county’s registrar of voters. This year’s primary elections saw just 34% of voters cast ballots.
The level of participation was “extraordinary” during this election season, San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters Melinda Dubroff said in a statement Monday.
