From the nationâs first public university, built by enslaved people, to the demonstrators this summer who finally rid the Capitol grounds of its monuments to white supremacy, the history of the Triangle and its major towns and citiesâChapel Hill, Durham, and Raleighâis inextricably intertwined with the history of its Black residents.
Black history is American history, and Black History Week, established as a precursor to Black History Month by the author and historian Carter G. Woodson, was an early affirmation, and now an ongoing reminder, that Black Lives Matter.

The dream of an 18-year-old orphan of becoming a doctor in the future is being dashed for lack of finances to pursue his education at the medical school.
Edward Elorm Gbanaglo, who completed Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC) with seven A1s and two B2s, has gained admission to the University of Health and Allied Sciences at Ho in the Volta Region but managed to pay his admission fees with the help of his late mother’s friends.
However, Elorm, who defied all odds to make the excellent grades, fears he might not be able to complete the programme because he does not have a constant source of funding.
Some nicknames are perceived as insulting and are resented but some too are welcomed even if on the surface they denigrate the bearer.
The nickname has been defined by the dictionary as a name that is different from your real name but is what your family, friends call you when they are talking to or about you .

Accra Academy
The academy is one of the foremost secondary educational institutions in Ghana and operates as a non-denominational day and boarding boys school, located at Bubuashie, near Kaneshie.
An alumnus of the Accra Academy is referred to as a Bleoobi. It has produced entrepreneurs and business leaders, footballers, journalists, television personalities, politicians and personnel in the banking industry, lawyers, and justices of the Supreme Court.
