On Monday, March 1, the Addison Public Library is joining 11 area libraries to host an online Fireside Chat with Dr. Eve L. Ewing at 6 p.m. She will share her perspectives on her work as a sociologist of education and the state of the world in 2021. This live event will be moderated by WBEZ s award-winning journalist Natalie Moore.
Head of Adult Services Mike Monahan said he is excited to partner with other local libraries to bring such a big-name writer to the Addison community.
Library s Free Gale Courses Cover Languages, Business, Art and More Hundreds of free, instructor-led online courses are offered by Gale Courses through the Schaumburg Township District Library. See article for details.

Interactive, instructor-led Gale courses on a multitude of topics are available for free to Schaumburg Township District Library cardholders. This service includes Gale s newest offerings: Intro to Microsoft Outlook 2019, Intro to Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain Fundamentals, Certificate in Mindful Relationships, Intermediate Quickbooks, Intro to the Medical Laboratory and Beginning Writers Workshop.
Gale Courses are taken online and last six weeks, with new sessions beginning every month. To access these courses, go to SchaumburgLibrary.org and click on E-Library, then choose Online Learning and follow the prompts. A Schaumburg Township District Library card and PIN will be needed to register for courses.

Binge Boxes are the newest addition to the Schaumburg Township District Library and are available for checkout.
Each themed box contains four to six DVDS in a particular genre or topic. To find them in the library s online catalog, go to SchaumburgLibrary.org and search for Binge Boxes. The library has many from which to choose, and several more on order.
This is a fun way for our patrons to have a movie night with family or friends, said Executive Director Annie Miskewitch. We acquired a lot of fun and interesting titles in an effort to provide a well-rounded collection with something for everyone.

Teens ages 12-19 are welcome to Hack the Library in a hackathon taking place from 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 4, through 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, online with the Schaumburg Township District Library. Hack the Library is a computer science event for teens that includes virtual meetings, coding workshops and project building. Industry judges will award prizes to the top finishers. All hackathon events take place via Zoom.
