PINELLAS COUNTY A standoff that lasted for about 12 hours with a suspect who barricaded himself inside a hotel room Wednesday night was arrested Thursday morning, Pinellas Park police said.
Walter Brois, 49, had a gun with him inside the Comfort Inn & Suites room on Ulmerton Road, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff s Office. Officers were in contact with him through text messages and phone calls for about six hours. At 2 a.m., Brois cut off all contact with police.

Update: Lanes have reopened on Gandy Boulevard westbound following a fatal pedestrian crash investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Update: A 54-year-old St. Petersburg man was killed early Thursday morning when he walked in front of a Ford truck traveling westbound on Gandy Boulevard near San Martin Boulevard, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at 5:53 a.m. Traffic continues to be affected as detectives investigate the fatality.

I can t really tell you how I m doing, Linda Simmons said eight days after her youngest daughter was killed. Because I don t know how I m doing. You know I m trying to wrap my head around all of this.We don t know why this happened, but we know something great is going to happen.if it wasn t for my grandchildren.
