PHOENIX â Arizona chef and restaurateur Tomaso Maggiore has died after a two-year battle with brain and lung cancer, his PR firm said Saturday. He was 73.
Maggiore was born in Sicily before moving to Arizona, where he opened more than 50 restaurants during his 40-year career, most notably Tomaso s Italian Restaurant, near 32nd Street and Camelback Road in Phoenix, according to a release from The Knight Agency, his PR firm.
Gov. Ducey Adds Another Million to SORAP
On December 2, Governor Doug Ducey introduced a grant program called the Safest Outside Restaurant Assistance Program (SORAP). It started with $1 million, then $2 million more was added on January 5, and now another $1 million was added to the program, which aims to increase outdoor dining. Restaurants and bars with less than 50 employees may now apply through March 5 for up to $10,000 to expand their patio seating. SCOTTSDALE, Arizona (KPHO/KTVK) From Scottsdale to Tucson, street racing and illegal car meetups are now a statewide issue. Arizona’s Family first exposed the problem in an undercover investigation more than a year ago and it’s still a big problem. In Scottsdale, hundreds of cars are meeting at a Park and Ride parking lot at Thunderbird and Scottsdale roads. Some of those cars street race up and down Scottsdale Road.
“It’s actually kind of frightening,” a woman who chose to be anonymous said.
MIAMI, FL - ZOM Living, one of the nation’s largest developers of multifamily housing, has acquired a portfolio of four parcels totaling 33 acres in Phoenix and Scottsdale with plans to deliver thousands of new apartment units over the coming years. The Florida-based firm intends to build up to 1,600 luxury units as part of a first phase of development spread across five rental communities located in North Phoenix, Scottsdale, and the Biltmore District, resulting in a combined investment exceeding $500 million. The four sites were purchased by an affiliate of ZOM Living through an auction in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
