CARTERVILLE, Ill. (KFVS) - In the last three days across the State of Illinois, six Illinois State Trooperâs cruisers have been hit in violation of the Move Over Law or Scottâs Law.
This year alone, 10 State troopers cruisers have been hit by drivers violating Scottâs Law. Thatâs compared to 15 for the whole year of 2020; and 27 in 2019 that led to two deaths of Illinois State troopers.
âAnybody broken down on the side of the road. Youâve got to slow down, and if itâs safe to do so, move over to another lane. Obviously, if you are on the interstate, if itâs not safe enough to do so, slow down as much as you possibly can,â said Josh Korando, Illinois State trooper.
The crash was the sixth in three days that involved a state trooper and a motorist being cited for disobeying the Move Over Law, also known as Scott s Law.
