CUMBRIA County Council is facing calls to build a new school in the north of Carlisle after a controversial planning application was given the green light. Gleeson Homes has been granted planning permission to build 80 new homes on land at Kingmoor Road, Belah, North Carlisle. The development, which will be known as Deer Park, will see the seven acre site transformed into quality , affordable homes, says the developer. Concerns have previously been raised over the plans, amid fears of over-development and the impact on biodiversity. Cllr Gareth Ellis, who represents the area on Carlisle City Council, called on the county council to act now to stop pressure on the area s schools.
