NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The breweries in Southeast Louisiana are beginning to pour over, from large-scale production facilities to the more pint-sized shops, itâs a bustling scene of brews.
But a little more than 15 years ago, nearly all the breweries on the scene today didnât exist.
âThere were just no operating breweries after Katrina and this is very much a market that needed an influx of beer,â Patrick Brown, owner of 504 Craft Beer Reserve, said.

Recorded in March 2021 by Scott Wood (Skerryvore) at Oak Ridge Studios in Glasgow, the new single features Charlotte Printer (bass), Jamie McGrory (drums), Mhairi Marwick (strings), Marco Cafolla (keys), Scott Wood (whistles), Jamie Adamson (guitar) and Naomi Stirrat (backing vocals), alongside Philippe Bronchtein (steel) who added his sound remotely from across the pond. Cameron can be heard on acoustic guitar, with his distinct, warm and spirited vocals front and centre.
He said: “The story behind this track is very personal to me and it took me around two years to finish and get the sentiment just right. It’s about how sometimes best friends grow apart and can go down a bad path and need a little help. I wanted to share the message that it’s OK to ask for help and reach out. I felt it was really important to share this and hope people can relate with the concept and get comfort from the song.
Virtual talk about Pony Express set for May 19

AUGUSTA The Kennebec Historical Society’s May Facebook live presentation will be about the book “Orphans Preferred: The Twisted Truth and Lasting Legend of the Pony Express.” Author Christopher Corbett will give a virtual talk at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 19.
“Orphans Preferred” was an attempt to explore an American tall tale, according to a news release. Rooted in fact and layered with fabrications and outright lies, there are few memories of the Old West more endearing or enduring than that of the Pony Express. But many of those memories are not true.
