Michigan Experiencing Tick Uptick

4:32 SCOTT POHL: We re hearing reports that there are more ticks than ever in Michigan this year. Are you seeing indications that would bear that out? Are there more ticks this year? HOWARD RUSSELL: We ve seen an increase in ticks throughout the Lower Peninsula over the last 10 years. Twenty years ago, ticks in the Lower Peninsula were rare, but they have increased not only their geographical range, but their numbers within that geographical range. So, there were lots more ticks in 2020 compared to 2019. I can only speak for myself, but around where I live, which is south a Mason, we re seeing a lot more ticks this year than we saw last year. For us, it s an ongoing battle. Former WKAR Employee Recounts Launch Of NPR s All Things Considered 50 Years Ago

I think there were 80 founding member stations and WKAR was one.

Infectious Disease Expert Praises Vaccination Rate

4:51 WKAR s Scott Pohl talks with Dr. Peter Gulick of the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. DR. PETER GULICK: There s a lot of resources, I think, to get people vaccinated. Now, it s not as restricted as it was before. As far as around the country, it depends on the state you re in and what requirements they have, and what issues they have, but I think that we still have a long way to go. I think we still have to really promote and push vaccines and try to get them implemented as effectively as possible. SCOTT POHL: We ve now lifted the capacity limit in restaurants from 25-percent to 50-percent. People can begin to visit those who live in elder care facilities. What are your thoughts on the pace of these restrictions in Michigan?
