Hey, Hoynsie: I really liked Jordan Luplow’s walk-off homer against the Twins in the ninth inning on Monday because it meant the Indians won an extra-inning game without really utilizing the Little League runner on second scenario. I hate the funky speed up the game rules especially when they change the essence or strategy of the game itself. Do you think we are stuck with that rule beyond the COVID situation?

CLEVELAND – With starter Logan Allen being sent to the alternate training site after his third consecutive rocky outing with the Indians on Wednesday, there’s no better time than now for the club to stock up on starting pitching depth.
Indians vice president of player development James Harris chatted with local media on Thursday morning over Zoom to discuss what’s been going on throughout the team’s farm system during the first month of the big league season, including providing updates on Scott Moss and Eli Morgan, who did not originally make the alternate training site roster.
Moss stayed back in Arizona due to neck tightness and Morgan had to work through forearm soreness. But the two were added to the alternate training site roster on Thursday.
Live Music This Weekend: David Payne plays from the heart, inspired by the love of his life
Steve Wong, Times-News correspondent
Considering that I am just now discovering WNC musician David Payne, the people who say I am a slow learner might be right.
But David is not the sort of guy to seek attention. If anything, he is a man at peace with his life and his music, happy to be with the love of his life, at work on the farm and making music for others.
This Sunday, David will perform at Appalachian Ridge Artisan Hard Cider, and if you are the kind of person who gets a little thrill hearing an old favorite song, you might want to check him out.
Live Music This Weekend: New musicians, venues in Henderson County for Cider, Wine & Dine
Steve Wong, Times-News correspondent
This is a strange but plentiful weekend for live music in Hendersonville and the surrounding area.
It is strange because I’m seeing some new names - venues and musicians - which is really good. You can never have too many places to see and hear live music, and new venues and musicians means more diversity, which in this day and age is a cultural plus.
It’s plentiful because, well, this is Cider, Wine & Dine Weekend, a tourism event with an extensive agenda of places showcasing what there is to eat and drink in Henderson County.
