A DRUGS trade “gilly” was once convicted of taking part in the kidnapping and torture of a friend who was then killed by his father, a court heard.
Scott Knight (47), who was caught running a “cannabis” delivery service during the pandemic, had never recovered from his experience of being “coerced” by his father into his friend’s torture.
Knight had served a sentence for being an accessory, while his father had been convicted of murder, Dublin District Court was told.
The details of Knight s criminal past emerged when he pleaded guilty to sale or supply of cannabis in the capital last week. Knight, of MacUilliam Avenue, Tallaght, had the drug dealing case adjourned, for a probation report.

SALTILLO â¢Â Affidavit ballots trimmed Copey Granthamâs thin lead over two-term incumbent Rex Smith Wednesday afternoon, but they did not stop him from effectively winning Saltilloâs mayoral election.
With only six absentee ballots outstanding, Granthamâs 13 vote lead makes his victory mathematically certain as it currently stands.
Saltillo City Clerk Mary Parker has refused to call the election, however, on the advice of the Secretary of Stateâs office.
âBecause of the closeness of the race and the fact there are still outstanding ballots, the Secretary of Stateâs office said they would not call it,â Parker said.
She noted that someone could still contest the election or call for a recount.
SALTILLO ⢠Voters will decide who they want to lead the city of Saltillo â two-term incumbent mayor Rex Smith or first-term alderman Copey Grantham â when they go to the polls next Tuesday.Â
The voters will also pare down the list of 14 candidates vying to sit on the city s board of aldermen down to just five who will serve until 2025.
Since all candidates qualified as Republicans, all of the races will be decided in Tuesday s primary. There will be no run-offs.
Both mayoral candidates agree that infrastructure â particularly sewer and water improvements â should be high on the list for Saltillo s administration in the next four years.
