The theme of new President Joseph R. Biden’s inauguration is “America United.” After the past four years and the Jan. 6 insurrection, the theme seems downright laughable.
Surely, when he was vice president, he watched President Barack Obama repeatedly try and kick the football held by Mitch McConnell, only to land flat on his back. Are we really going to try the unity thing again after four years of American carnage?
Unity is especially hard for the losing side.
I’m reminded of something that happened 29 years ago today. It was Sunday, Jan. 20, 1991, and I was over at my friend Mickens’ parents’ house in Suisun City with a bunch of friends cheering on the Los Angeles Raiders in the AFC Championship game versus the Buffalo Bills. The three Canadians are Buffalo season-ticket holders and they re reveling in the Bills success this year. But they re unable to attend games in Western New York due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has closed the border to non-essential travel.
That couldn t come at a worse time for fans of an NFL team that hasn t tasted playoff success in decades.
Buffalo (13-3) finished atop the AFC East Division this season to secure the conference s No. 2 seed. That gave the Bills their third playoff berth since 2017. but the club s 27-24 victory last weekend over the Indianapolis Colts was its first post-season win since 1995.
The year 2020 may go down as one of the most remarkable years in history; no doubt itâs certainly been one for the books. As we take a look back on the most memorable and prominent stories of the past year, we find it somewhat difficult to sift through and find any stories not associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. While the novel coronavirus continues to make headline after headline, 2020 was also a year to remember for many other happenings.Â

The Buffalo Bills have won the AFC East division for the first time in 25 years and secured their first home playoff game in almost as long. TOWN CREEK, Ala. (WAFF) - One year ago today, a small-knit communityâs entire world turned upside down.
December 16th, 2019, an EF-2 tornado ripped across County Road 265, also known as Blue Hollow Road, in Lawrence County.
Three people were killed in that tornado and several others were injured.
