Indian-American Among 18 Astronauts Named By NASA For Artemis Moon Missions 11
Florida: NASA has selected an initial team of 18 astronauts, including Indian-American astronaut Raja Chari, to form the Artemis Team and help pave the way for the next astronaut missions on and around the Moon as part of the Artemis program.
Vice President Mike Pence introduced the members of the Artemis Team on Wednesday during the eighth National Space Council meeting at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Chari joined the astronaut corps in 2017. A colonel in the U.S. Air Force, he was raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He received a bachelor’s degree in astronautical engineering and a master’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics.

NASA on Wednesday announced the 18 astronauts chosen for its
Artemis moon-landing missions.
The astronauts include nine men and nine women one of whom could become the first woman ever to walk on the
moon.
NASA aims to launch people to the lunar surface as early as 2024.
