Warm, sunny weather has brought out the tulips in Skagit County, and the flowers are dazzling visitors with acres of color.
“They are at their peak bloom now through April 25,” said Cindy Verge, executive director of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.
The bright hues and sunny days also have drawn waves of smitten tulip lovers to the festival, which continues through April 30.

DEMING, Wash. South Fork Valley residents will see a power blip overnight Wednesday-Thursday (April 21-22).
PSE says they will be shutting off the electricity for up to 7 hours starting at 10pm.
The outage will impact homes and businesses in the Highway 9 area from the Skagit County border north to Mount Baker Highway, and the Mount Baker Highway area to Mosquito Lake Road.
Power should be back on for good by 7am tomorrow.
The utility says the work is for normal maintenance and upgrades.

Today was the long-awaited Vax Day in Washington state. Everyone 16 and older is now eligible to get a Covid-19 vaccine.
KUOW reporter Anna Boiko-Weyrauch has been covering the pandemic for over a year now. She got her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine today at the Skagit County Fairgrounds. She told Kim Malcolm how it went, with her characteristic eye for detail, sense of humor, and an undeniable rush of emotion.

Appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations fill up quickly, usually within a few hours, in metro areas like Everett and Seattle.
But if you re willing to travel, you might be able to get your shot much more quickly.
Along the Washington coast in Grays Harbor County, there is more vaccine than they can use right now. On Friday alone, they have 900 doses available and room for 400 appointments.
