PC Alex Plakhtienko, from the business crime team, said: “We support businesses in our communities across Essex and know the impact shoplifting and theft can have on them. “We have taken action to ensure prolific shoplifters can no longer target and cause harm to businesses in and around Basildon town centre. “We work alongside businesses to help protect them from crime and deal with issues they face. “It’s just another way we’re protecting and serving Essex.” Reed was convicted of a series of thefts from stores in and around town centre which took place in February. The crook was also convicted of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress and obstructing a constable in the execution of duty.
The installation of a roundabout will lead to a trio of Rayleigh roads being off limits. Hullbridge Road, Rawreth Lane and Mortimer Road will be linked by a new roundabout which is set to be built over the next few months. However, the installation works, being undertaken by TDR Groundworks, will result in the three roads being temporarily closed. Motorists will be unable to proceed on Rawreth Lane between Hullbridge Road and Exmouth Drive, while Mortimer Road will be off limits between Hullbridge Road and Eastview Drive. The restrictions will be in place from May 12 for 38 days, potentially causing congestion.

Freedom And Free Speech
They say that Americans love two things: freedom … and guns. The trouble with guns is obvious. The trouble with freedom is more subtle, and boils down to doublespeak.
When a good old boy defends his ‘freedom’, there’s a good chance he has a hidden agenda. He doesn’t want freedom for everyone. He wants ‘freedom for himself, not you’. I call this sentiment
freedom tribalism. It’s something that, given humanity’s evolutionary heritage, is predictable. It’s also something that has gotten worse over the last few decades. And that brings me to the topic of this essay:
A MAN sent an explicit picture of his genitals to a teenage girl, a court heard. Nigel Burton was hauled before the courts after the 16-year-old girl told her mother of the shocking image, which was accompanied by a lewd message. The 36-year-old, of Southend Road in Penrith, sent the messages to the girl via Facebook, the court heard. She told him her age but he kept sending her indecent communications, North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court in Carlisle was told. The victim told police that she was disgusted and shocked. Burton pleaded guilty to sending a message which was of an indecent or grossly offensive nature for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety to the recipient on March 14, 2020 at Penrith.
