BEAVER FALLS – Two Democratic candidates are vying for Beaver Falls’ four-year mayoral seat in the May 18 primary election.  Incumbent Mayor George Quay, who was first appointed to the seat by Beaver Falls City Council in 2012 and re-elected since, is running for his third term. Prior to being appointed, Quay was serving his second term on Beaver Falls City Council after retiring as an owner of a motorcycle repair company. Quay believes the city has improved during his tenure, citing a downtown with storefronts filled, a booming housing market and a balanced budget.

CHCC, mayor s office to conduct village premise inspections | News

THE Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.-Environmental Health Disease Prevention, in collaboration with the Saipan Mayor’s office, will conduct premise inspections in the villages. CHCC said the inspection is in line with the mayor’s routine village beautification program to address improper trash or garbage disposal that contributes to litter and vector harborage in the communities. Harborage is anything that attracts or provides shelter for vectors: “Any insect or other arthropod, rodent or other animal capable of harboring or transmitting causative agents of human disease, or capable of causing human discomfort and injury.” CHCC noted that the mayor’s office staff frequently observed trash scattered on the streets or sidewalks during their routine village cleanup.
