Twin B Archie Throttles Gold Foes | Standardbred Canada

Twin B Archie made an impressive debut in the Gold Series at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday, July 29, clocking a 1:55.3 victory in the first of three $70,533 divisions for the two-year-old trotting colts and geldings. From Post 1, driver James MacDonald settled the fan favourite in fourth as Drinks At Home clocked a :28.1 opening quarter. Following Red Overbach past Renegade Gypsy and Drinks At Home, MacDonald allowed that colt a brief moment on the lead before Twin B Archie took command heading for the :57.1 half. Untroubled on the lead through the 1:26.3 three-quarters, Twin B Archie opened up a seven and one-half length margin on his peers down the stretch to secure his first lifetime win after runner-up efforts in the Grassroots and Millard Farms Series. Drinks At Home finished second and Red Overbach was third.

Desperate Man, Second Bruiser Win OSS | Standardbred Canada

Ontario’s world-class three-year-old pacing colts waged a pair of $99,800 Gold Series battles at Georgian Downs on Sunday (July 25) and it was Second Bruiser and Desperate Man who emerged victorious from the fray. Favourite Second Bruiser did the bulk of the work on the front in the first division, leading the field through fractions of :27.4, :55.3 and 1:22.4 before pulling away to a 2-3/4-length win in a personal best 1:50.2. Century Heineken finished second and Bettor Of The West was third. “He’s just a good horse, he’s been good since he come back this year and I wanted to drive him like I thought he was the best, because I thought he was the best,” said driver James MacDonald. “I pushed him a little bit, but he felt like if someone had come to him he’d have given me a little more too. He’s a tough horse, he’s just a good horse.”
