SALEM Salem Regional Medical Center will distribute 100 Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to those 80 and older by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28. All recipients must register in advance; call 330-332-7511, for an appointment. Callers must provide their name, phone number and birthdate to register. There is no charge. The Moderna vaccine requires a second dose to be given approximately 28 days after the first dose. The clinic will be located on the ground floor of the hospital. People should enter the campus from East Pershing Street and park in the Surgery Center lot. Participants should then enter the building through the Surgery Center entrance and will be asked to provide a government-issued ID upon arrival. More vaccination clinics will be planned in the coming weeks.

County Sheriff Deputies checked at a Waterford Road, Unity Township, home at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a 911 hang up call from there. The resident was fine and said he did not call 911. A deputy and two Minerva police responded to a home on Bayard Road after the residents in one apartment complained loud music was being played in another apartment at 11:24 p.m. Wednesday. No one was found to be home at the apartment where the music was reportedly being played and when they entered the apartment where the person lived who called police, officers could hear nothing.

PERRY TOWNSHIP A woman in the 1100 block of West Perry Street reported at 11:28 p.m. Saturday that a neighbor was playing music loudly in a vehicle. An officer spoke with the person in the vehicle and told him to turn it down. Police were dispatched at 8 p.m. Saturday to the 900 block of Elberon Avenue for a report of possible shots fired, but found and heard nothing in the area. A caller at 9:24 a.m. Saturday reported a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot in the 1300 block of Pembrooke Drive. Police identified the driver, who said he was waiting to pick up a friend.
