SPM NEWS 4.30.21 Officials with the Sioux City Police Department say a suspected murder-suicide claimed the lives of a Sioux City couple yesterday. Investigators say evidence at the scene shows that 60-year-old Nicholas Socknat may be responsible for the death of 51-year-old Kelli Socknat before shooting himself. The two lived together at a home near Morningside Elementary School. Spokesperson Sgt. Jeremy McClure says there are no reports of disturbances involving the couple. However, given the circumstances detectives consider this a case an of domestic violence. McClure add if anyone who is experiencing domestic violence, they can contact the police department or SafePlace, formerly known as the Council on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence.

We cover the commercial, corporate, business and private aircraft that fly in and out of Sioux Gateway Airport, General Bud Day Field,” said Albrecht.

Police identify Sioux City couple found dead Thursday morning Unmute SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The Sioux City Police Department has identified the two people found dead Thursday morning at a residence in Morningside. The SCPD has identified them as 52-year-old Kelli L. Socknat and 60-year-old Nicholas R. Socknat, both of Sioux City. Police say the two were married and lived together at a residence in the 2500 block of S. Mulberry. Detectives say evidence currently suggests that Nicholas may be responsible for Kelli s death and that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police are still awaiting a report by the State Medical Examiner to confirm the cause of death.

On April 29 at about 8:30 a.m. Sioux City police received a call asking for a wellness check on an individual who did not show up to work. Police were able to get in contact with a family member of that person and have them go to their residence. Soon after, officers received a call from the family member saying they had found the two individuals dead. When officers responded to the call Thursday morning from the family member, they said there were no signs of forced entry.

No injuries reported after car collides with Sioux City church Unmute SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - No one was injured after a car crashed into the front doors of a Sioux City church. The Sioux City Police Department says the crash happened Friday just after midnight. Police say the driver lost control of her vehicle and crashed into St. John Lutheran Church on Jackson Street. The driver, 30-year-old Jorden Shellhammer of Sioux City, was not injured in the crash.
